Here are some notes I've collected through out the years from meeting different artists
from all around. Not only is my goal to become a better draftsman,
but I want my drawings to also be INTERESTING, APPEALING, and UNIQUE as possible.
So here are some great tips to help you become a better artist:

-Try to strive for something that no one has ever seen before.

-Know what it IS you are drawing first, before you start putting down that pencil! Picture in your head what it is you are drawing.

-In a still drawing, EXAGGERATION on a character is more appealing than subtleness.

-Don't be careless or satisfied with your first attempt. Work on it until you can't find any more corrections to be made.

-Don't put down a line without a purpose. Every line must have a purpose and should be there for a reason.

-Concentrate on being CLEAR, TO THE POINT, and READABLE.

-Use thumbnails. It saves time and paper!

-Think in terms of drawing the whole character, not just the head or eyes, etc. Keep a balanced relationship between all parts of the drawing.

-Keep drawings loose at first when starting out. Also make it a point to CONSTRUCT out your drawings once you've got the idea in your head.

-The facial expression should not contradict the body attitute. One thing out of place can ruin the entire drawing.

-Don't illustrate words or mechanical drawings. Illustrate ideas or thoughts, with the attitudes, actions, and emotions.

-Place adjectives in front of your verbs. (Example: He ran out. Instead say- He frantically scrambled out!)

-DETERMINATION can out beat TALENT!

-Surround yourself with inspiration, including your own work.

-It is Okay to learn from the best, even if they're younger than you.

-Believe in yourself and never ever give up!
